Gavin Esler

Gavin Esler

In this timely exploration of Britain's core institutions, broadcaster and commentator Gavin Esler sheds light on the failures at the heart of our political system, and asks what we can do to save it. Drawing on events such as the MP expenses scandal, Brexit, 'Partygate', and the short-lived premiership of Liz Truss, he discusses a culture of lies, mistrust and corruption. Thankfully, he also has encouraging ideas about what we can do to build a better future. Gavin is in conversation with author and journalist Tatton Spiller.

Gavin Esler is a journalist, television presenter and author. He was a main presenter of the BBC current affairs show Newsnight for 12 years until 2014, and is now the author five novels and four non-fiction books. He is Chancellor of the University of Kent.
